Stillwater, Oklahoma
Photographs that still
feel like you in
twenty years.
I’m April, a portrait photographer working across Stillwater, the Oklahoma State campus, and the small towns around Payne County.
Capturing light. Preserving memories.
The short version
Most people book a photographer once every few years and dread it a little. My whole approach is built around that: short, unhurried sessions where you are told exactly what to do with your hands, and where nobody has to perform being happy.
I shoot almost entirely in natural light, on location, in the places that already mean something to you: the OSU campus, Theta Pond, the Botanic Garden, a back road outside Perkins, your own front porch.
Every session comes back to you fully edited, at full resolution, with a print release. No upsell, no per-image pricing, no gallery you have to buy your way out of. Prices start at $50 and they are published in full.

Where we shoot
Six places in Stillwater
worth photographing.
After years of shooting here I know which corner of campus holds the light at 6pm in October, and which one turns into a wind tunnel. Here is where I take people, and why.
- Edmon Low Library The most recognizable building on the Oklahoma State campus. The south lawn and the columns both photograph beautifully in late afternoon.
- Theta Pond Willows, water, and the arched bridge. Best an hour before sunset, when the light comes through the trees from the west.
- Boone Pickens Stadium The classic Cowboy senior frame. Gate access varies by season, so we plan this one around the athletics calendar.
- The Business Building Clean modern lines and covered walkways, the reliable choice when the Oklahoma wind refuses to cooperate.
- Downtown Stillwater Brick storefronts along Main Street give a warmer, less collegiate feel for seniors who want something different.
- Block 34 Downtown’s open-air park, with native gardens, the covered pavilion, and interactive public art. Shade when you need it and color that changes with the season.
- The Botanic Garden at OSU Tulips in spring, prairie grasses in fall. The most colorful option in town and my personal favorite in April.
- Eagle Heights Baptist Church Quiet grounds on the north side of town, and an easy indoor option when the weather turns. Arranged with the church ahead of your date.
Questions people ask
-
How far in advance should I book?
- Senior sessions fill fastest in September and October, so six to eight weeks ahead is safe. Mini sessions sell out within days of being announced. For everything else, three to four weeks is usually plenty.
-
How long until I get my photos?
- Every session is delivered within two weeks, and mini sessions within one. You will also get a sneak peek of a few favorites within 48 hours of your session.
-
Do you photograph weddings?
- No. I focus entirely on portrait work, and weddings are not something I take on. I am glad to point you toward Stillwater wedding photographers I trust, and I do photograph engagements, so plenty of couples book me before the day and someone else for it.
-
What happens if it rains?
- Oklahoma weather gets a vote. We reschedule at no charge, as many times as we need to. Overcast days are quietly some of the best light we get.
-
Do I get the digital files?
- Yes. Every session includes high-resolution digital images and a print release, delivered through a private online gallery you can share with family.
-
How do I pay, and when?
- A 50% deposit books your date and is non-refundable. The remaining 50% is due 48 hours before the shoot. I accept PayPal, Zelle, Cash App, and cash.
-
What happens to my deposit if we reschedule?
- It moves with you. Rescheduling for weather is always free and your deposit carries over to the new date. The deposit is only lost if you cancel outright.
-
Where are you located?
- I am based in Stillwater, Oklahoma and photograph across Payne County and central Oklahoma, including Perkins, Perry, Guthrie, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa. Travel beyond 30 miles is quoted per session.
